The big game was, not surprisingly, a major source of news around these parts along with national issues with local implication.

The Super Bowl means that sports is always in the news in February and that was even more true this year with the Seahawks defeating the New England Patriots to take home a second Super Bowl trophy—followed soon after by the news that the team would go up for sale.

Natalie Welch, director of ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½’s MBA in Sport and Entertainment Management Program, was busy speaking about the pending sale of the Seahawks, talking to , and the . Welch also appeared with Albers School of Business and Economics Marketing Department Chair Mathew Isaac on to break down this year’s Super Bowl commercials.

The Redhawks men’s basketball team was featured prominently in a story about the rise of Asian college basketball players. The ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ baseball team’s involvement in the HBCU Classic against Jackson State was featured in a story. Nursing alum Erin Martin was mentioned in a story about her upcoming appearance for Team USA in the Paralympics while did a feature on former Redhawk women’s soccer player Jourdyn Curran making the Philippines’ National Team.
