Thanks to the generosity of so many, the university’s annual day of giving will help fund essential scholarships, programs and student experiences.
For the third consecutive year, the ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ community came together and raised more than $1.1 million during SU Gives. The 24-hour annual fundraising event invited the campus community, alumni, friends and families to support the scholarships, programs and experiences that help ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ thrive.
With 2,188 donors supporting more than 70 funds, SU Gives was a powerful reminder of what the Redhawk community can accomplish together. From scholarships to athletics to campus life, all gifts, no matter the size, are essential to the university’s growth and ensures future leaders have access to a holistic, Jesuit education. Here are just a few areas of impact from the day:
- The ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Fund, which provides immediate support where it’s needed most, saw $173k raised from 144 donors. This flexible, unrestricted fund is often described as a “superhero” fund by meeting the most urgent needs of the university, from enhancing student services to supplementing scholarships to updating classroom equipment.
- In support of Campus Life, 91 donors contributed more than $70k across three funds, including the Basic Needs and Food Security Initiative. This fund supports the nationally recognized SU Wellness Cafe and Food Pantry, which serves approximately 150 students each week and helps recover between 600 and 800 meals each month. Other support from the program includes grocery and gas cards, housing application assistance and new parent items. Overall, the initiative helps students remain focused on education in times of financial stress.
- SU Gives donors also directly supported academic excellence through a variety of funds that empower student success, faculty scholarship and innovation. For example, the Fostering Scholars Program raised more than $24k to help cover tuition, books, fees and year-round housing for students who have experienced the foster care system.
“SU Gives demonstrates the legendary impact our community can make in support of the university causes we care about most,” says Senior Vice President of University Advancement Edgar Gonzalez. “We are grateful for the generosity of our community and their dedication to ensuring the current and future success of our students and ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½.”
